How Your Shoes Are Made

Handmade from the very beginning

Every pair of shoes from Becci’s Bridal Designs begins with skilled hands, carefully chosen materials and a genuine love of creating something special.

I collaborate with a small artisan shoemaking company to handmake each base shoe. Working this way gives me the flexibility to offer an exceptional choice of styles, fabrics, colours and finishing details—without being limited to mass-produced shoes. Once the base shoes are complete, they come to my studio to be transformed into a design created especially for you.

From an idea to your finished shoes

Your shoes pass through several careful stages, with time allowed for the materials, construction and embellishments to be finished properly.

1. Your design is chosen

You may select one of my existing designs or contact me to discuss something more personal. Depending on the style, you can choose details such as the shoe shape, heel height, fabric, colour and embellishment.

This flexibility makes it possible to create shoes that feel completely individual—whether you would like a subtle touch of sparkle, meaningful personal details or an elaborate one-of-a-kind design.

2. The base shoes are handmade

Your base shoes are handcrafted for your order by the small artisan company I work with. The upper, lining, structure, sole and heel are brought together to create the foundation for your finished design.

This is skilled, small-scale shoemaking rather than mass production. Natural variations in hand-finished work are part of the character of a genuinely handmade pair.

3. Materials and details are selected

Embellishments are never simply taken from a standard production line. Lace, crystals, pearls, flowers, appliqués, trims and other decorative elements are sourced individually for each design or carefully made by hand in my studio.

Many designs involve preparing tiny components one at a time—cutting lace motifs, building flowers, arranging crystals or creating embellishments that suit the shape of the shoe.

4. Every detail is applied by hand

Once the base shoes arrive at my studio, the decorative work begins. Each element is positioned and applied individually, allowing me to follow the contours of the shoes and balance the design across the pair.

Intricate designs can involve many hours of close, detailed work. Pearls and crystals may be placed one by one, lace is shaped around curves, and handmade flowers or bows are created and attached with care.

5. Finishing and quality checks

Before your shoes leave the studio, I inspect the finished pair carefully. I check the overall balance of the design, the placement and security of the embellishments, and the final presentation.

Each shoe is individually protected and nestled inside its shoe box with tissue paper, helping the embellishments and finish remain secure during delivery. Your order also includes the relevant care information, all presented with the same attention given to the shoes themselves.

I also photograph completed orders before dispatch, so there is a record of how your shoes looked when they left my studio. They are then carefully wrapped and packaged ready for their journey to you.

What handmade really means

Handmade does not mean that a ready-made pair of shoes is simply decorated. The base shoes themselves are made for the order by skilled artisans, before every decorative detail is completed by hand in my studio.

Because the process is carried out by people rather than an automated production line, each pair may have tiny variations. These are not faults—they are part of what makes a handmade item individual. No two embellished pairs will ever be completely identical.

Thoughtfully Made, Sustainably Created

Every order at Becci’s Bridal Designs is handcrafted especially for you. By creating on demand, we avoid the wasteful overproduction often seen in the fashion industry—meaning no excess, no surplus, just the item you wanted, made just for you.

This approach helps to reduce environmental impact by limiting unnecessary stock, storage and transportation—something that is incredibly important to us.

Our materials and practices

  • Materials are sourced locally wherever possible.

  • All packaging is eco-friendly, recyclable or made from recycled materials.

  • Our shoes are made using man-made materials only, with no animal-derived materials and no animal testing.

  • Our vinyl is vegan and OEKO-TEX® certified.

We have spent years carefully researching and selecting materials and suppliers that reflect our ethical values, with consideration for the planet, animals and the wider environment.

Made for one person, not mass production. Your order is created because you chose it—giving every material, detail and hour of work a purpose.

How long does it take?

Genuine handmade work cannot be rushed. Most bridal shoes require a minimum of four weeks, while highly embellished or more complex custom designs may require six to ten weeks. Current production times are shown on each product listing and can vary during busy periods.

If you have a wedding or fitting date, please order as early as possible and let me know the date when placing your order. Delivery time should always be allowed in addition to the making time.

Created for your story

Your wedding shoes can be far more than something you wear for one day. Colours, fabrics, flowers, initials, dates and other thoughtful details can be used to connect them to your dress, your bouquet, your venue or a memory that matters to you.

If you have an idea that you cannot find anywhere else, I would love to hear about it.
